Age limits

Minimum age: 21 years Maximum age: 43 years as on 01-08-2026. Relaxations as per Bihar Government norms for reserved categories.

Educational qualifications

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) with a relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/BC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EBC and for physically challenged persons of Bihar (where applicable). In addition to the Master’s degree, the candidate must satisfy one of the following:

• Qualified NET/SET/SLET for Assistant Professor as per UGC/CSIR guidelines; or
• Ph.D. as per UGC norms and exempted from NET; or
• Registered for Ph.D. before UGC Regulation 2009 with specified conditions; or
• Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 (QS/THE/ARWU) anytime. NET/SLET/SET exemption is allowed in disciplines where these tests are not conducted.

Additional requirements

• Only one Bachelor’s and one Master’s degree should be entered in the application.
• For Unreserved and EWS candidates, Master’s degree minimum is 55%; for reserved categories it is 50%.
