Age Limit (as on 08-01-2026)

• Technician/Diploma Apprentices: 18 to 24 years
• Graduate/Degree Apprentices: 21 to 26 years
• Relaxations as per GOI guidelines: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (NCL) with appropriate certificates; 10 years for PWD (up to 15 years for SC/ST and up to 13 years for OBC, as applicable)
• Ex-Servicemen: Relaxable as per extant rules

Essential Qualifications

• Three years Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Three years Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent
• Three years Diploma in Computer Engineering / Information Technology or equivalent
• Three years Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Refrigeration & Air Conditioning / Mechanic Ref. & Air Conditioning / Air Conditioning and Refrigeration or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in any Science discipline
• Graduation in any discipline
• Three years full-time Diploma in Engineering/Technology granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Education established by a State Government/University/Institutions in relevant discipline
• Full-time Graduate degree (Non-Engineering) granted by a recognized University/Institutions in relevant discipline

Experience

• Candidates should not have experience of one year or more in any job.

General Information / Instructions

1. Date & Time of Walk-in Interview: Reporting at 09:00 AM. Candidates reporting after 10:00 AM will not be entertained. No TA/DA will be provided.
2. Bring duly filled application form and original certificates along with self-attested copies of educational certificates, date of birth proof, Aadhaar card, category certificate (if applicable), and a passport-size photograph.
3. Candidates must have Aadhaar Number and NATS enrollment (if applicable).
4. Original documents will be verified at the time of interview. Joining is subject to verification of certificates.
5. Submit all required documents; incomplete submissions may lead to disqualification.
6. No hostel accommodation will be provided. Selected trainees must arrange for accommodation after joining.
7. Trainees completing the apprenticeship will receive NCVT/BOAT certification.
8. Any corrigenda or updates will be published on the official website (nio.res.in).
9. Final eligibility and selection are at the discretion of the Director, CSIR-NIO.
10. Engagement is subject to successful completion of verification.
