Eligibility Details

Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel

• Minimum 10 years of practice in Criminal Law
• At least 30 Criminal Trials in Sessions Court (relaxation possible)
• Enrolled with Bar Council
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Thorough understanding of ethical duties of defense counsel
• Ability to work effectively with others
• IT/Computer knowledge (preferable)

Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel

• Minimum 7 years of practice in Criminal Law
• At least 20 Criminal Trials in Sessions Court (relaxation possible in exceptional circumstances)
• Enrolled with Bar Council
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Thorough understanding of ethical duties of defense counsel
• Ability to work effectively with others
• IT/Computer knowledge (preferable)

Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel

• 0-3 years of practice in Criminal Law
• Enrolled with Bar Council
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Thorough understanding of ethical duties of defense counsel
• Ability to work effectively with others
• IT/Computer knowledge (preferable)
