Age

Educational Qualifications and Experience

• Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel: Practice in Criminal Law for at least 7 years with strong understanding of criminal law, oral and written communication, legal research, ethical duties of defense counsel, and IT proficiency; must have handled at least 20 criminal trials in Sessions Courts (relaxable by the Executive Chairman, SLSA).
• Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel: Practice in Criminal Law from 0 to 3 years with good oral and written communication, writing and research skills, understanding of ethical duties of defense counsel, teamwork ability, and high IT proficiency.

Other Professional Requirements

• Enrolled advocates with the Bar Council and requisite experience as per the application form and scheme.
• LADCS engagements are contractual full-time; no private practice or retainership allowed during the term.

Nationality

• Must be eligible to practice law in India according to Bar Council norms and the Legal Services Authorities framework.

General Instructions

• Engagement is purely contractual and full-time under the Modified LADCS Scheme 2022 for the District Legal Services Authority, Mansa.
• Lawyers engaged will not be allowed any other private cases or retainership during the term of engagement.
• Services may be extended to Talukas or outlying Courts as per directions from the Punjab State Legal Services Authority.
• Engagement can be terminated at any time for specified reasons, including breach of duties or unsatisfactory performance.
• Compliance with the Bar Council of India code of ethics and state orders is mandatory.
• Leave entitlement and other conditions will follow the Modified LADCS Scheme 2022.
