Age limits

Minimum Age: 18 years Maximum Age: 25 years Date of birth should be supported by Matriculation or equivalent certificate. No age relaxation is provided.

Educational Qualifications

• For Level-2 & Level-3 (GP Rs. 2000/- & GP Rs. 1900/-): 12th (+2 stage) or an equivalent examination.
• A pass in Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized Board and having an ITI Certificate may also apply to be posted as Tech-III/Level-2 GP Rs. 1900/-.
• A pass in Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized Board may also apply to be posted as Tech-III/Level-2 GP Rs. 1900/- subject to completion of prescribed training as per Railway Board's guidelines.
• For Level-1 (GP Rs. 1800/-): 10th Pass or ITI or equivalent OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.
• No relaxation in minimum educational qualification shall be permissible.
• Candidates must mandatorily submit photocopies of relevant documents and originals on the day of trials.

Sports Achievements

• Active player with sports achievements on or after 01.04.2023.
• Certificates in support of sports achievements must be submitted along with the application.
• Championships must be conducted under recognized federations and be recognized by the Railway Sports Promotion Board.

Minimum Sports Norms (Level-2/Level-3 and Level-1)

• Level-2/Level-3: multiple criteria including national/international achievements and specific rankings.
• Level-1: criteria including national championships and federation cup performances.

• Date of Issue: 10/01/2026
• Closing Date (General): 09/02/2026 (18:00 Hrs)
• Closing Date (Andaman, Nicobar & Lakshadweep): 24/02/2026 (18:00 Hrs)
• Sports Achievements Criteria (On or after): 01/04/2023
• Age Calculation Date: as on 01/07/2026

Application Fee

• General: Rs. 500 (Rs. 400 refunded after appearing for selection)
• SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PWDs/Women/Minorities/EBC (income < Rs. 50,000 per annum): Rs. 250 (fully refundable after appearing)

Payment Details

• Fee payment via Demand Draft or crossed Indian Postal Order in favour of 'Principal Financial Adviser, East Coast Railway', payable at Bhubaneswar.
• Include applicant’s name and full address on the instrument.
• Cash/Money order/Cheque will not be accepted.

General Information and Instructions

• Applications are invited from eligible sportspersons for recruitment against Sports Quota (Open Advertisement) for the year 2025-26 in East Coast Railway.
• There is no reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS communities. Selection will be based on merit irrespective of community.
• The notification and application form are available on the East Coast Railway website.
• Use A-4 white paper and fill the form in blue/black ink, in English or Hindi only.
• Attach two passport-size photographs and one extra photograph with name, date of birth, and signature on the back.
• Signatures and left thumb impressions must be clearly provided; illegible LTIs may lead to rejection.
• The list of eligible and ineligible candidates will be uploaded on the official site for general information.
• No requests for changing dates/venue of trials will be entertained.
• Selected candidates must pass medical fitness standards prior to appointment and may be posted anywhere in East Coast Railway after training.
• Service bond of 5 years will be required at the time of appointment.
• Canvassing will lead to disqualification; Railways reserve the right to fix dates or cancel trials.
• No TA/DA or accommodation will be provided for trials; candidates must arrange their own travel.
• For legal disputes, jurisdiction is Central Administrative Tribunal, Cuttack.
• Recruitment is merit-based; no agent or coaching center is authorized to act on its behalf.
