Kalyani University Faculty Recruitment 2026 - Apply Online for 20 Teaching Posts

Age as of 01 January 2026: Assistant Professor up to 40 years; SC/ST 5 years relaxation (max 45); OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) 3 years relaxation (max 43); Differently-abled 10 years relaxation (max 50).

Professor - Essential Eligibility

• Option (a): Eminent scholar with Ph.D. in the concerned/relevant discipline, at least 10 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals, and a research score of 120 as per prescribed criteria, plus minimum 10 years of teaching experience at University/College level or equivalent research experience with successful Ph.D. guidance.
• Option (b): Outstanding professional with Ph.D. in a relevant/allied/applied discipline from academic institutions or industry, with significant contribution to knowledge and at least 10 years of experience.

Associate Professor - Essential Eligibility

• Good academic record with Ph.D. in concerned/relevant/allied disciplines.
• Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the relevant subject.
• Minimum 8 years of teaching and/or research experience equivalent to Assistant Professor level.
• At least 7 publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals and a research score of 75 as per criteria.

Assistant Professor - Essential Eligibility

• Option (a): Master’s Degree with 55% marks in the relevant subject from an Indian University or equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university, and NET (UGC/CSIR) or equivalent test such as SLET/SET.
• Option (b): Ph.D. degree from a foreign University/Institution with ranking among the top 500 in World University Rankings (QS/THE/ARWU) in any year.

Department-wise Special Requirements

Biochemistry and Biophysics

• Professor: M.Sc. in Biochemistry with teaching/research experience in Cellular and Molecular Biology, Immunology.
• Associate Professor - Medical Biochemistry: M.Sc. in Biochemistry/Physiology/Molecular Biology/Biotechnology.
• Associate Professor - Electrophysiology: M.Sc. in Biochemistry/Physiology/Biophysics.
• Associate Professor - Proteomics & Biophysics: M.Sc. in Biochemistry/Biophysics/Zoology.

Environmental Science

• Professor & Associate Professor: M.Sc. in Environmental Science/Botany/Zoology/Earth Science/Geology/Geography with specialization in ecology, environmental biology, toxicology, microbiology or related fields.
• Assistant Professor: Open specialization with significant environmental field experience.

Library and Information Science

• All posts require specialization in Resource Description and Content Designation.

Philosophy

• All posts are with open specialization as per departmental requirements.

Marks Relaxation

• 5% relaxation of marks at Graduate and Master’s level for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently-abled candidates.
• 5% relaxation from 55% to 50% at Master’s level for Ph.D. holders who obtained their degree before 19 September 1991.
• No relaxation in qualifying marks for Differently-abled candidates in the discipline of Physical Education.

Age Limit (Assistant Professor)

• Upper age limit: 40 years as on 01 January 2026.
• SC/ST candidates: 5 years relaxation (maximum 45 years).
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 3 years relaxation (maximum 43 years).
• Differently-abled candidates (except Physical Education): 10 years relaxation (maximum 50 years).

• Assistant Professor (UR, UR-PWD, OBC-A, OBC-B): Rs. 1,000
• Assistant Professor (EWS, SC, ST): Rs. 250 Note: No exemption is available for SC/ST candidates of other states. The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid online through the portal.

Documents to be uploaded include academic score sheets, publication PDFs with ISSN/ISBN/DOI details, proof of research projects, patents/awards, certificates, language proficiency certificates, and NOC if currently employed.

Selection Process involves screening of qualifications and research output, with shortlisting based on Academic/Research Score and an interview for final selection.
