Age limits

• General candidates: up to 35 years
• Category-IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB and other Backward Classes: up to 38 years
• Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Category-I: up to 40 years
• Minimum age: 18 years Note: A one-time 5-year relaxation is applicable for backlog recruitment notified up to 31 December 2027. Ex-servicemen receive age relaxation equal to the years of service plus 3 years, subject to eligibility.

Eligibility details

Nationality and Domicile

Candidates must be Indian citizens and reside within a notified forest area under the Karnataka Forest Department's jurisdiction in Karnataka.

Language

Candidates must be able to speak and understand Kannada.

Experience (Qualification)

Experience in elephant management/handling is mandatory. The notification does not specify a separate minimum educational qualification; the application form requires declaring years of experience in elephant handling.

Marital Status

A male candidate with a living spouse who remarries without prior government permission is not eligible for appointment.

Medical and Character Standards

Candidates must be mentally and physically fit. Those with pending criminal inquiries or convictions are not eligible."
