Age Limits

• General/OBC: Maximum 55 years (Born on or after 01-01-1971)
• SC/ST: Maximum 60 years (5 years relaxation)

Educational Qualifications

• Class I Marine Engineer Officer (MEO) qualification.
• Minimum academic score with 30% weightage in the selection.
• Desirable qualification carries 10% weightage (total academic weightage 40%).

Work Experience

• Minimum 1 year experience as Chief Engineer in coastal or foreign-going vessels (mandatory).
• Desirable experience carries 15% weightage (total work experience weightage 30%).
• Proficiency in ship management, navigation, cargo operations, ISM/ISPS, statutory surveys and audits.
• Knowledge of organizing sailing schedules as per owner requirements.
• Preference to candidates with PSU experience in operation and management of ships.
• Preference to islanders; if qualified islanders are unavailable, post is open to others.
