Age Limit

Not over 40 years as on 1 January 2026. ST candidates receive 5 years of relaxation. Existing employees of any Major Port may be eligible up to 55 years as per MbPT Regulations, 2010.

Essential Qualifications

• MOT I Class Motor Certificate or Marine Engineer Officer Class I Certificate issued under the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.
• One year of post-qualification experience as Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer on board a foreign-going ship.

General Information / Instructions

• Age relaxation of 5 years for ST candidates. Regulation 9 of MbPT Employees (RSP) Regulations, 2010 allows up to 55 years for existing Major Port employees.
• SC/ST candidates called for test/interview are eligible for Travelling Allowance on production of original tickets.
• Selection will be through a competitive written examination and/or personal interview.
• Selected candidates will undergo medical examination at the Mumbai Port Authority hospital for fitness.
• Mere fulfilment of minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview call. No correspondence will be entertained regarding candidatures.
• The administration reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for tests/interviews depending on response.
• Canvassing in any form will disqualify.
