Age Details

Minimum age: 21 years Maximum age: 32 years Age as on 01-05-2026. Relaxations applicable as per government norms for SC/ST/SEBC/Women/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen, etc.

Eligibility Details

• GATE 2026 Score (Mandatory): Valid score in Electrical Engineering (EE) paper. Only GATE 2026 scores (normalized marks out of 100) are accepted. GATE 2025 or prior scores are not valid.
• Educational Qualification: Degree in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD). Alternatively, passing Section A & B of IE (India) in the relevant discipline with at least 50% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD).
• Odia Language Proficiency (Mandatory): Ability to read, write, and speak Odia. Proof can be via Odia middle school/matriculation/Class VII Odia or approved Odia test.
• Nationality: Indian National.
• Other Conditions: NOC for current Govt./PSU/Autonomous Body employees; Departmental candidates are exempt from the application fee.
• Age (as on cut-off date): 21 to 32 years with applicable relaxations as per rules.

Application Fee (Online)

• UR / SEBC: Rs. 1,180 (Rs. 1,000 + GST Rs. 180) + online transaction charges
• SC / ST (Odisha only) / PwBD: Rs. 590 (Rs. 500 + GST Rs. 90) + online transaction charges
• OPTCL Departmental Candidates (Regular Employees): Exempted Note: Fees are non-refundable. Departmental candidates are exempt from payment of fee.

Additional Instructions

• Selection comprises GATE 2026 score (90% weightage), Personal Interview (10%), and medical examination. No separate written test is conducted. Final appointment is subject to medical fitness and verification of documents.
• Selected candidates will be posted anywhere within Odisha or at OPTCL units as required.
• A service bond of Rs. 3,00,000 applies for all categories, with a minimum three-year service obligation post-training.
• During training (1 year) a stipend of Rs. 50,000 per month will be paid. After training, candidates are absorbed as Assistant Manager (Electrical) in Pay Matrix Level EE-2 (CTC ~ Rs. 15 LPA).
• SEBC certificate must be dated on or after 01-05-2025. Certificates issued after 25-06-2026 will not be accepted.
• Ensure correctness of name and date of birth as per official certificates; discrepancies may lead to rejection.
• No hard copy of the application is required; retain a printout for interview (if shortlisted). All updates will be published on the OPTCL career portal only.
