Casual News Editor (Tamil)

• Graduate of a recognized university.
• Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism with a duration of at least one year from a recognized university/institution OR 5 years of experience in reporting/editing work in Print/Electronic Media.
• Proficiency in the Tamil language.

Casual News Reader cum Translator (Tamil)

• Graduate of a recognized university.
• Proficiency in the Tamil language.
• Possession of a good quality voice suitable for broadcasting.

Selection Process

Casual News Editor(Tamil)

The selection procedure comprises two stages: a written test and an interview. Each test carries 100 marks. The written test will assess journalistic and professional capability as well as knowledge of the concerned language. Candidates securing 50 marks and above in the written examination will be called for an interview to assess their suitability for radio news.

Casual News Reader cum Translator (Tamil)

The selection procedure comprises three stages: a written test, a voice test, and an interview to assess professional competence and knowledge of the candidate in the concerned language. Each test carries 100 marks. The syllabus for the written test includes translation from English to Tamil and vice versa, short notes on current affairs, and general knowledge. All questions are to be answered in Tamil. The duration of the test will be three hours. Candidates securing 50 marks and above in the written test will be called for a voice test. In the voice test, the following will be judged: 1. Voice Quality, 2. Modulation, 3. Diction, 4. Pronunciation, 5. Accent. The voice test may be followed by an interview to assess the candidate's suitability for the RNU Job.

How to Apply

• Applications should reach "The RNU Head, All India Radio, Indira Nagar, Gorimedu, Puducherry 605006" by post/hand on or before 2025-11-15. The envelope containing the application in the prescribed format should be superscribed with "Application for Casual News Editor (Tamil)/Casual News Reader cum Translator (Tamil) in RNU Puducherry". Candidates applying for more than one post are required to submit separate applications along with a separate processing fee.
• Applications received after the prescribed date and time will not be considered. This division shall not be held responsible for any late receipt or non-receipt of applications, and no further correspondence in this regard shall be entertained. Candidates working in Government/Autonomous bodies should obtain a 'No Objection Certificate' from their employers.
• The list of eligible candidates scrutinized from the applications received, along with the time, date, and venue for the written examination, will be posted on the NSD AIR website: www.newsonair.gov.in. All applicants are requested to check the website regularly after the closing date for submission of the application. No call letter will be delivered to candidates for the written examination and audition/voice test.
