Eligibility Details

Stringers

• Experience in TV news coverage
• Must possess camera equipment meeting current standards
• Accessories for connectivity with DSNG/Live units
• Preference for own transport and mobile phone

Editorial Assistant

• Degree from a recognized university
• Degree/Diploma in Journalism
• Minimum 3 years of experience in news broadcasting/news organization
• Desirable: familiarity with national/international affairs; matriculate in relevant language

Video Editor

• 10+2 or equivalent
• Degree/Diploma in Film & Video Editing
• 2 years of relevant experience

English & Khasi News Readers

• Degree from a recognized university
• Proficiency in language; camera-friendly appearance and clear voice
• Correct pronunciation, accent, and modulation
• Knowledge of current affairs; journalism background desirable

Copy Editor (Khasi)

• Degree
• Degree/Diploma in Journalism/Mass Communications
• Desirable: familiarity with affairs; matriculate in language; 3 years of media/broadcast experience

Stenographer (Khasi)

• 10+2
• Speed 80 wpm shorthand and 40 wpm computer typing
• Desirable: proficiency in Khasi; English to Khasi translation

CG Operator

• 10+2
• Certificate in computer application
• Desirable: 1 year of relevant field experience

Important Dates

• Notification Date: 07 January 2026
• Last Date: 07 February 2026
• Applications must reach by 05:00 PM on the last date (where applicable)

Application Fees

• Stringers: Non-refundable Rs. 1180 (inclusive of 18% GST) via Demand Draft in favor of Drawing & Disbursing Officer, DDK Shillong
• Casual Assignees: No application fee

Other Instructions

• Casual empanelment is not a regular post and does not confer any claim for permanent employment.
• A maximum of 7 assignments per month for casual assignees.
• Applications without enclosures will be rejected; canvassing leads to rejection.
• No TA/DA for tests or interviews.
• Separate applications must be submitted for each casual category.
• The Director General, DD News reserves the right to cancel the process.
• Stringers should read the guidelines dated 02/07/2010; equipment verification and contract signing are required.
