Age relaxation details

• SC/ST: +5 years
• OBC-NCL: +3 years
• PwBD: +10 years
• Ex-Servicemen: +up to length of service in Defence Forces (no extra relaxation for their children)

Educational qualifications

• 10th class/SSC passed under the 10+2 system with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
• ITI certificate in the relevant notified trade from NCVT/SCVT recognised institute.
• Candidates must possess the required qualification as on the online application submission date.
• Engineering graduates and diploma holders are not eligible for this Act Apprentice notification (separate scheme).

Age limits

• Minimum age: 15 years
• Maximum age: 24 years (as on 11.04.2026) with relaxations as per rules for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen

Residential eligibility

• Candidates must reside in districts under South Central Railway jurisdiction and provide valid proof of residence. Eligible areas include Telangana, Andhra Pradesh (certain districts excluded), Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh as outlined in the official notification.

Application fee

• ₹100 for UR/OBC/EWS males
• No fee for SC/ST, female/Transgender and PwBD candidates

Selection process

• Merit-based selection by averaging 10th marks (minimum 50%) and ITI marks; no written test or viva.
• Shortlisted candidates will undergo Document Verification (DV) and must provide original certificates.
• Training stipend will be paid as per Central Apprenticeship Council/railway instructions.
• There is no job guarantee after apprenticeship.

How to apply (summary)

• Online only via the RRC-SCR portal. Include state/district, valid contact details, and ITI-related information.
• Upload scanned documents (photos, signature, 10th mark sheet, ITI certificate, RDAT/ RDAT registration, category/EWS/ PwBD certificates, medical certificate) in required formats.
• Ensure RDAT/NAPS registration is completed at www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in before applying.
• Pay the application fee online (if applicable) and download the submitted form for DV.
