Papers and Qualifications

• Paper 1 (Classes 1-5): 10+2/HSC plus Diploma in Teacher Education or Diploma in Elementary Education or equivalent. In-service teachers in aided or unaided schools may be eligible if they meet NCTE norms.
• Paper 2 (Classes 6-8): Graduation in the relevant subject plus B.Ed. or equivalent, as per Tamil Nadu School Educational Subordinate Services guidelines. For Special Education Teachers, qualifications from G.O.(Ms).No.144, dated 17.06.2025 apply. Subject-specific requirements include relevant graduation (Mathematics/Science or Social Science).

Relaxations

• There is no upper age limit specified for TET eligibility. Relaxations in qualifying marks apply: 50% for BC/BCM/MBC/DNC/PWD and 40% for SC/SCA/ST.
