Bihar STET 2026 Notification: Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) - Paper I & II

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 21 years as on 01-08-2026.
• Maximum age (as on 01-08-2026): 37 years for Unreserved (Male), 40 years for Unreserved (Female) and various allowances up to 42 years for certain categories (SC/ST, ST, Backward Classes, Divyang, etc.).
• Relaxations: Divyang and Ex-servicemen may receive applicable relaxations as per GAD guidelines. No relaxation in the maximum age for candidates previously trained/appointed prior to earlier STET cycles.

Educational & Professional Qualification

• Paper-I (Secondary): Graduation with at least 50% marks in the relevant subject/subject group from a recognized university, along with a B.Ed. (or equivalent) from an NCTE-recognized institution. Relaxed norms (45% + B.Ed.) apply where prescribed under NCTE Regulations 2002/2007.
• Paper-II (Higher Secondary): Post-graduation with at least 50% marks in the relevant subject from a recognized university, along with a B.Ed. (or equivalent) from an NCTE-recognized institution. Relaxed norms (45% + B.Ed., or 55% + integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.) apply as prescribed.
• Separate detailed qualification norms (Parishisht-1 for Paper-I and Parishisht-2 for Paper-II) apply for Physical Education, Music, Fine Arts, Dance, and Special School Teacher categories, including sports-quota and NCC-linked pathways. Verify the exact clause applicable to your subject in the official notification.

Citizenship

• The candidate must be a citizen of India. Note: Any dispute regarding recognition of a qualification/institution, or equivalence of a degree, will be decided by the Department in consultation with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), and that decision will be final.

Important Dates

• Online Application Start: 17 August 2026 (afternoon)
• Online Application & Fee Payment Last Date: 31 August 2026
• Extended Online Application Last Date: 22 September 2026 (Extended)
• Minimum/Maximum Age Reckoning Date: 01 August 2026
• Note: Applications and fee payments are accepted strictly between 17.08.2026 (afternoon) and 31.08.2026.

Examination Fee

• General/EWS/Backward Class/Extremely Backward Class: ₹960 for one paper; ₹1,440 for both papers.
• SC/ST/Divyang (PwD): ₹760 for one paper; ₹1,140 for both papers.
• Fee is payable online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. Note: Reservation benefits in age, qualifying marks, and fee are applicable only to candidates who are original/permanent residents of Bihar. Candidates domiciled outside Bihar will be treated as General category.

Important Conditions

• Applications must be completed personally by the candidate. Incomplete applications or multiple applications will be rejected.
• Applications must be submitted online in English; the declaration/signature should not use all capital letters.
• The admit card will be generated based on online application details; corrections will not be entertained after issuance.
• Download and retain the confirmation of the application for future reference.
• The Samiti reserves the right to modify or cancel the recruitment/examination process at any stage.

• Caste certificate for SC/ST, Creamy-layer-free certificate for Backward Classes, disability certificate if applicable
• Ex-servicemen discharge/service documents (if applicable)
• Recent scanned photograph and signature in prescribed format/size
