Age Limits (as on 01 August 2026)

• Primary & Middle School: 18 years minimum
• Secondary & Higher Secondary School: 21 years minimum
• Maximum age: 42 years for all candidates across levels

Relaxations: PwD +10 years; ex-servicemen +3 years plus service; Bihar government employees up to 5 years (subject to conditions).

Basic Eligibility by School Level

• Primary (Class 1-5): Senior Secondary with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR Graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR Graduation/Senior Secondary with two-year D.Ed. (Special Education) as per NCTE norms.
• Middle (Class 6-8): Graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR Graduation/Post-Graduation with B.Ed. OR 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. with the requisite subject combinations for Language, Math & Science or Social Science teaching as specified.
• Secondary (Class 9-10): Graduation/Post-Graduation in the relevant subject group with minimum 50% marks and B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognised institution.
• Higher Secondary (Class 11-12): Post-Graduation in the relevant subject with minimum 50% marks and B.Ed. or an equivalent qualification recognised by NCTE.
