Age Limits

• BRA (Post 26091) - Age below 65 years.
• Sowa-Rigpa (NCISM-2022) Assistant Professor (Post 26403) - Age not to exceed 45 years at first appointment.
• Relaxations in marks/age may be provided as per UGC/CIHTS rules. The institute may grant relaxations/upgradation at its discretion.

Professor Posts - Eligibility

• Post Codes and Subjects include Sanskrit; Mool Shastra (Tibetan Medium); Mool Shastra (Sanskrit Medium); Sowa-Rigpa; Bhot Jyotish; Tibetan Traditional Painting; and related categories.
• Standard UGC Professor pattern (A or B) or an outstanding professional with substantial teaching/research credentials and Ph.D. in the relevant field.

Associate Professor Posts - Eligibility

• Subjects include Mool Shastra; Bhot Jyotish; Nyingma; Dictionary; Translation; Educational Studies; Sowa-Rigpa; and more.
• Requirements vary by post: good academic record with Ph.D., Master’s with requisite marks, and a total research score as per Appendix II, UGC Regulations 2018.

Assistant Professor Posts - Eligibility

• Post codes cover a wide range of subjects including Sanskrit, Mool Shastra, Sakya, Nyingma, Gelug, Kargyud, Chinese, Japanese, German, French, Bon Shastra, Asian History, Political Science, Tibetan History, and Tibetan Language & Literature.
• Generally require Master’s with 55% marks plus NET/SLET/SET or a qualifying Ph.D. under UGC 2009/2016 regulations (or equivalent exemptions). Some posts may require specific eligibility patterns or post-Doctoral qualifications as noted in the notification.

Important Dates

• Online Registration Start Date: 08-09-2026
• Online Registration End Date: 07-10-2026
• Hard copy of the application must reach the Registrar within 3 days from the online submission deadline.

Application Fee

• UR / OBC / EWS: Rs. 1,000 (online payment only).
• Women candidates: Exempted.
• SC / ST / PwBD: Exempted.

Note: The fee is non-refundable and separate applications must be submitted for each post if applying to more than one post.

General Instructions

• Maintain a valid email ID and mobile number for portal registration.
• Regularly check the CIHTS website for updates.
• Indicate caste/category in the application form; leaving it blank may render the application incomplete.
• PwBD candidates with disability less than 40% will not be considered for posts reserved for PwBD.
• In-service candidates must arrange proper channel approval and NOC from their employer if shortlisted.
• Submit the online application first, then send a hard copy with enclosures by registered post within the specified period.
• Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
• In case of discrepancies between English and Hindi versions, the English notification shall prevail.
• Only online submission is accepted; no other modes will be entertained.
• The institute reserves the right to modify or cancel posts advertised at any stage.
• Ensure all uploaded documents are legible and self-attested where required.
