Eligibility Details

Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel

• Enrolled Advocate with at least 10 years of practice in criminal law
• At least 30 criminal trials in Sessions Courts (relaxable)
• Excellent communication and leadership qualities
• Preferable computer knowledge

Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel

• Enrolled Advocate with at least 7 years of practice in criminal law
• At least 20 criminal trials in Sessions Courts (relaxable)
• Excellent criminal law knowledge, communication skills, legal research, and IT proficiency

Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel

• Enrolled Advocate with 0 to 3 years of practice in criminal law
• Good communication skills, ethical understanding, writing and research skills
• High IT proficiency

General Qualification for all posts

• Enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council under the Advocates Act, 1961
• Membership of Bar Council of Odisha or a registered Bar Association
• Practice experience in criminal law as per post
• Knowledge of criminal laws including BNSS, BSA, BNS
