Age Limit

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Maximum age: 42 years as on the closing date of advertisement (19-10-2026)

Relaxations

• As per Government instructions, category-wise age relaxations apply (SC, BC, EWS, PwD, ESM, DSC/OSC, etc.). The upper age limit may be extended up to 52 years for certain categories as specified, with conditions.
• PwBD candidates: relaxations as detailed in the notification.

Educational Qualifications

Required Disciplines

• A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree from a recognized university in one of the following groups:
  • Food Technology group: Food Engineering; Food Engineering and Technology; Food Processing and Preservation; Food Processing Technology; Food Technology and Management; Food Biotechnology; Food Plant Operations Management; Food Process Engineering; and related fields including Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Oil Technology; or
  • Agricultural Science group: Agriculture; Agriculture Engineering; Biotechnology; Dairy Technology; Fisheries; Food Technology; Food Nutrition and Dietetic; Horticulture; or related disciplines such as Veterinary Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Medicine; or
  • Any other equivalent qualification notified by the Food Authority with prior approval of the Central Government
• Successful completion of training as prescribed by the Food Authority in a recognized institute after appointment (to be notified as Food Safety Officer upon completion)
• Hindi or Sanskrit as one of the subjects in Matriculation or in Higher Education

Other Conditions

• No person with any financial interest in the manufacture, import, or sale of any article of food shall be appointed as Food Safety Officer under applicable rules.

Fee Structure

• PwBD candidates (Haryana) with at least 40% disability: NIL
• OSC/DSC/BC-A (Non-Creamy Layer)/BC-B (Non-Creamy Layer)/ESM/EWS/women of Haryana: Rs. 250
• DESM candidates of Haryana in their vertical category (OSC/DSC/BC-A NCL/BC-B NCL/ESM/EWS): Rs. 250
• DESM candidates of Haryana (UR): Rs. 1,000
• All remaining candidates: Rs. 1,000

Notes: The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Online payment is required before the closing time; fee remission claims, if any, must be valid on the portal.

Selection Process

• Generally a three-stage process: Screening Test, Subject Knowledge Test, and Interview. The Commission may opt to conduct only the Subject Knowledge Test and Interview in some cases.
• Shortlisting may be based on criteria such as qualifying marks, educational qualifications, desirable qualifications, higher education, and experience.
• No re-checking of OMR sheets or re-evaluation of answer sheets will be entertained.
