KSET 2026 Notification: Karnataka State Eligibility Test for Assistant Professors - Dates, Eligibility, Fee & Subjects

Age

• There is no upper age limit for KSET-2026. No minimum age is specified in the notice beyond standard educational qualification requirements.

Educational Qualifications

• Candidates must possess a Master’s degree (or be in the final year of their Master’s program) from a UGC-recognised university. General category candidates must have a minimum of 55% marks, while Reserved categories (SC-A/SC-B/SC-C, ST, OBC - Category-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB), PwD, and Transgender candidates must have at least 50% marks.
• Candidates in the final year of their PG program may apply provisionally; they must obtain the required minimum marks in their qualifying PG examination within two years from the date of KSET results, and must submit the mark card within that period.
• A 5% relaxation is available for those who completed their postgraduate examination on or before 19 September 1991 and who hold a Ph.D.
• A candidate may appear for KSET in only one subject; if applying for multiple subjects, select only one according to postgraduate specialization.

Reserved Categories, PwD & Transgender

• Reservation benefits apply only to Karnataka residents.
• PwD candidates must have at least 40% disability and provide a medical certificate with a UDID number.
• Transgender candidates must provide an identity certificate issued by the district authority.
• No reservation benefits for non-Karnataka domiciles; non-reserved category applies otherwise.

Foreign Degree Holders

• Degrees from foreign universities require AIU equivalence certification before applying.

Other Eligibility Notes

• Eligibility is verified at the appointment stage, not during application.
• A candidate cannot apply for the same subject if already eligible in that subject from a previous KSET exam.

• Online application closing: 5 September 2026
• Last date for fee payment: 6 September 2026
• Hall ticket release: 1 October 2026
• KSET-2026 Examination Date: 11 October 2026 (Sunday)
• Exam mode: Online two-paper format in a single sitting (Paper I and Paper II)

Application Fees

• General, Category-2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, and candidates from other states: Rs. 750
• Category-1, SC-A, SC-B, SC-C, ST, PwD, and Transgender candidates: Rs. 500

Payment

• Online payment only through the application portal. The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Instructions

• Download and verify the hall ticket from the KEA portal and carry a valid photo ID to the exam center.
• Only standard writing materials and a transparent water bottle are allowed inside the hall; electronic devices and other items are prohibited.
• The exam center cannot be changed after submission of the application.
• PwD candidates are eligible for additional time as per KEA guidelines; scribe assistance information is available on the KEA site.
• Ensure accuracy of personal details (name as per SSLC/10th marks card) to avoid later scrutiny.
• Candidature is provisional and subject to verification; any discrepancy may lead to rejection and legal action as per applicable law.
• Disputes regarding KSET-2026 are subject to the jurisdiction of the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka.
