Age Limit (as on 01-07-2026)

• General category: Minimum 21 years; Maximum varies by post (up to 34-35 for most posts, up to 39-40 for certain reserved categories).
• Specific maximum ages by category are provided in the notification table (e.g., 34/44/50 for some cases with benchmark disability, etc.).

Note: The general category candidates with 5 or more years of government service are not eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification

All five Group 1 posts require a degree from a recognized university incorporated by an Act of the Parliament/State Legislature or declared a deemed university under the UGC Act, 1956. Specific post requirements include:

• Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Taxes) - preference for B.Com with B.L. degree and related diploma, as outlined in the notification.
• Assistant Commissioner of Labour - special preference for certain categories as indicated in the notification.

Language Proficiency

Candidates must possess adequate knowledge of Tamil as on the date of notification. Acceptable criteria include passing SSLC/HSC/degree with Tamil as a language, Tamil medium study, or passing the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by TNPSC.

Medical Standards

Selected candidates must submit a fitness certificate at joining. Visual acuity should be at Standard III or better, with an Eye Fitness certificate if needed.
