Age Limits (as on 01-01-2024)

• Group A & C: Not below 21 years and not more than 36 years.
• Group B (WB Police Service): Not below 20 years and not more than 36 years.
• Group D: Not below 21 years and not more than 39 years.

Notes:

• For Group B, candidates born between 02-01-1988 and 01-01-2004 are eligible.
• Age is recorded in Madhyamik or an equivalent certificate.
• Relaxations apply as per government rules for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD as specified in the notification.

Qualifications

• A degree from a recognized university.
• Ability to read, write, and speak Bengali (not required for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali as per directives).

Note

• Applicants must satisfy all qualifications by the closing date of submission.
• Knowledge of Bengali may be tested at the Personality Test stage for candidates whose mother tongue is not Bengali/Nepali.

• Commencement of online application: 18-11-2025
• Closing date for online submission: 16-12-2025 (up to 3:00 PM)
• Fees submission closing: 16-12-2025 (up to 3:00 PM)
• Edit Window: 12-12-2025 to 18-12-2025 (up to 3:00 PM)
• Preliminary Examination: March 2026 (tentative)
• Main Examination: To be notified
• Personality Test: After Main Examination

• Extended Edit Window: 19-12-2025 to 23-12-2025 (up to 3:00 PM)

Application Fees

• General/OBC: Rs. 210 plus online charges (payment mode: online).
• SC/ST (West Bengal): Exempted from fee.
• PwBD (40% and above): Exempted from fee.

Note: The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. OBC candidates must pay the standard fee; no exemption is available for SC/ST candidates from other states.

How to Apply

• Applications must be submitted online only via the official WBPSC website.
• Do not submit multiple applications for the same candidate.
• Register, login, and fill the form with exact details including educational qualifications, group preference, examination centre, and height (mandatory for Group B).
• Pay the application fee online as applicable.
• Keep the registration number/application number for future reference.

Documents Required

• One photo ID proof (Madhyamik or equivalent certificate bearing photograph, Passport, PAN Card, EPIC, driving license, etc.).
• Original photo ID to be carried to the examination venue.

General Instructions

• Indicate the group(s) for which you intend to compete.
• No changes to group selections will be entertained after submission.
• Eligibility will be verified; candidatures may be cancelled if found ineligible.
• All communications will be through the official portal and official notifications only.

Selection Process

• Written Examination (two stages: Preliminary and Main) and Personality Test.
• Final merit lists will be based on marks from Main Exam and Personality Test, including candidate preferences and vacancies.
• Category-wise qualifying marks: UR 40%, EWS 40%, OBC-A/B 38%, SC 35%, ST 30%, PwBD 30%, MSP 40% (subject to reservation rules).
