Age Limit (as on 07-09-2026)

• ITI candidates: 15 to 24 years
• Non-ITI candidates: 15 to 22 years
• Upper age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC
• PwBD: 10 years relaxation

Educational Qualifications

• Ex-ITI candidates (Fitter, Electrician, Machinist): Std X with at least 50% marks in Science & Maths under 10+2 or equivalent, plus National Trade Certificate (NCVT/SCVT) of one year or more in the notified trade - 1 year training.
• Ex-ITI candidates (Carpenter, Painter, Welder): Std X with minimum 50% marks under 10+2 or equivalent, plus NCVT/SCVT of one year or more in the notified trade - 1 year training.
• Ex-ITI (PASAA): Std X with minimum 50% marks, plus NCVT/SCVT in IT/Computer Operator & Programming Assistant/Database System Assistant/Software Testing Assistant - 1 year training.
• Freshers (Fitter, Electrician, Machinist): Std X with at least 50% marks in Science & Maths under 10+2 or equivalent - 2 years training.
• Freshers (Carpenter, Painter): Std X with at least 50% marks under 10+2 or equivalent - 2 years training.
• Freshers (Welder): Std X with at least 50% marks under 10+2 or equivalent - 1 year 3 months training.
• Freshers (MLT - Radiology & Pathology): Std XII with Physics, Chemistry & Biology under 10+2 - 1 year 3 months training.

Higher qualifications (degree/diploma/engineering) are not eligible for Act Apprenticeship, except for MLT where 12th/HSCE is acceptable.

Application Fee

• General/OBC (male): ₹100 plus applicable service charges (non-refundable).
• SC/ST/PwBD/Women: No application fee.
• After payment, a Transaction ID will be provided for reference. Keep it safe for future needs.

Instructions

• This notification is strictly for apprenticeship training; employment is not guaranteed upon completion of training.
• Training does not confer automatic absorption in Railways after completion.
• Canvassing or misrepresentation will lead to disqualification.
• If declared false at any point, candidates may be disqualified or terminated without notice.
• Accommodation and meals are not provided by ICF; candidates must arrange their own.
• Selected trainees must sign an apprenticeship contract; minors require guardian consent per guidelines of the Regional Director of Apprenticeship Training, Guindy, Chennai.
• Original Transfer Certificate for qualifying examinations must be produced during document verification.
