Eligibility by Trade Group

Group A - Non-ITI (10th/SSC level)

• English & General Knowledge - SSC Maharashtra State Board Level
• Physics - SSC Maharashtra State Board Level
• Chemistry - SSC Maharashtra State Board Level
• Mathematics - SSC Maharashtra State Board Level

Group B1 - ITI Passed (Draftsman, Fitter, Electrician, Electronic Mechanic, Painter General, ICTSM, RAC)

• English & General Knowledge - SSC Maharashtra State Board Level
• Trade Theory - per Maharashtra ITI syllabus of the trade
• Workshop Calculation & Science - per Maharashtra ITI syllabus of the trade
• Engineering Drawing - trade-specific syllabus

Group B2 - ITI Passed (Plumber, Welder, COPA, Carpenter/Wood Work Technician)

• English & General Knowledge - 8th standard of 10+2 system
• Trade Theory - per Maharashtra ITI syllabus of the trade
• Workshop Calculation & Science - per Maharashtra ITI syllabus of the trade
• Engineering Drawing - trade-specific syllabus

Group C - Non-ITI (Rigger and Welder)

• English & General Knowledge - 8th standard of 10+2 system
• Physics - 8th standard of 10+2 system
• Chemistry - 8th standard of 10+2 system
• Mathematics - 8th standard of 10+2 system

Note: The COPA trade tests 75 questions from Trade Theory and 25 from English & General Knowledge.

How to Prepare for MDL Trade Apprentice Exam 2026

• Identify your exact trade group (A, B1, B2, or C) since each has a different subject combination.
• Group A and Group C candidates should revise Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the SSC/Maharashtra State Board level.
• Group B1 and B2 candidates should focus on their ITI trade’s Trade Theory, Workshop Calculation & Science, and Engineering Drawing, as these carry the majority of marks.
• There is no negative marking; attempt all 100 questions within 120 minutes.
• Practice with a timer to build speed, aiming for about 1.2 minutes per question.
• You may choose the language you are most comfortable with (Marathi, Hindi, or English); the English version is the reference in case of discrepancies.
