Age limit

Age is calculated as on 01 July 2026. The superannuation age is 62 years. No separate minimum age is specified in the notification. Relaxations as per Government of Uttar Pradesh rules may apply.

Eligibility criteria

Route A

• Master’s degree with 55% marks (or equivalent) in the relevant/allied subject from an Indian university (or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university) AND a qualifying NET/CSIR-UGC or an equivalent state-level test (SLET/SET) as applicable, with exemptions for candidates holding certain PhD qualifications per UGC regulations.
• For direct recruitment in regular-mode PhD candidates, other regulatory conditions must be met as specified in the notification.

Route B

• PhD in the relevant subject from a foreign university/institution ranked in the world’s top 500 (QS World University Rankings, THE, or Shanghai Ranking).

Special eligibility for Art/Drawing & Painting, Music Vocal, and Music Instrumental subjects

• Either the above Master’s + NET/SLET/SET or PhD route, or a traditional/professional artist with a Bachelor’s degree and recognized professional achievement, subject to a minimum 55% marks at Master’s level for direct recruitment, along with other conditions stated in the notification.

A relaxation of 5% in qualifying marks (from 55% to 50%) applies to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/disabled candidates for eligibility and evaluation, and an additional 5% relaxation applies to PhD-degree holders who earned their degree before 19 September 1991. The notification also lists subject-wise inter-related/equivalent subjects acceptable for eligibility.

Application fees

• General/Unreserved/OBC/EWS and others: Rs. 2,000
• SC/ST: Rs. 1,500
• PwD (Divyang Jan): Rs. 1,000

Fees can be paid online via Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking after registration. Fee once paid is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Important instructions

• The registration and application form must be filled in English only.
• If more than one application is submitted for the same post, only the last submission will be considered valid; fees are not refundable.
• No TA/DA will be paid for written examination or interview.
• PwD candidates are entitled to scribe facilities and 20 minutes extra time per hour as per government orders; the scribe must be organized by the candidate and registered with the Commission in advance.
• Original residents of Uttar Pradesh with reserved-category benefits must submit caste/EWS certificates in the prescribed state format. Caste certificates issued from the paternal side are required for women candidates in certain cases.
• No objection certificates (NOC) from current employers may be required at the time of interview.
• A false declaration or concealment can lead to cancellation of candidature.
• Ensure uploaded documents (photograph, signature, and certificates) are in the prescribed formats and sizes.
