Age Limit Details

• Maximum age: 28 years as of 14-12-2025.
• Relaxations: 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC-NCL. Further relaxations as per Government of India orders for Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Widows, and other eligible categories.

Educational Qualifications

General requirements

• Masters Degree in Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing & GIS, or equivalent. Dissertation in Water Resources/Hydrology is preferred.
• M.Tech in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Remote Sensing & GIS, or equivalent. Dissertation in water resources/hydrology preferred.
• M.Tech in Geology, Geophysics, Applied Geology, Earth Science, Geoinformatics/Geomatics/Remote Sensing and GIS, or equivalent with specialization or dissertation in Geosciences.
• M.Sc. in Geology/Geophysics or equivalent with a PG Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS (Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Computer Science at B.Sc. level).
• M.Sc. or equivalent in Physics/Applied Physics/Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Geomatics/Geoinformatics/Remote Sensing/Computer Science/ IT, with Physics or Mathematics as a subject at Graduation.
• M.Tech/M.E./M.Arch/M.Plan or equivalent in Physics/Mathematics/Geography/Geology/Civil Engineering/Geomatics/Geoinformatics/Remote Sensing/Computer Science/IT/Architecture & Planning.
• Master’s degree in Agricultural Meteorology/Agricultural Physics/Plant Physiology/Agronomy/Environmental Science/Forestry/Ecology/Remote Sensing & GIS/Geoinformatics or equivalent.
• Master’s degree in Agricultural Meteorology/Agricultural Physics/Plant Physiology/Environmental Science/Environmental Management/Forestry/Ecology/Remote Sensing & GIS/Geoinformatics or equivalent.
• M.Sc. in Physics/Applied Physics/Atmospheric Science/Meteorology/Climatology/Environmental Science with Physics or Mathematics as a Graduation subject (or) M.Tech in Atmospheric Science/Applied Physics/Meteorology/Climatology/RS & GIS with specialization in Atmospheric Science or equivalent.
• M.Sc. in Physics/Applied Physics/Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Atmospheric Science/Meteorology/Environmental Science with Physics/Mathematics as a Graduation subject.
• M.Sc. in Forestry/Ecology/Botany/Environmental Sciences/Wildlife Sciences/Biodiversity & Conservation (or) M.Tech or equivalent in Remote Sensing and GIS with dissertation in Forestry/Ecology.

As on 14-12-2025, the Maximum Age Limit is 28 years, relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC-NCL. Further relaxations as per Government orders apply for Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Widows, Divorced Women, and certain category candidates.

• Applications for Eleven (11) Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) will be hosted online from 10:00 hours on 21-11-2025 to 17:30 hours on 14-12-2025 on the IIRS website.
