Age Limits

• Level-2 (Group C): 18 to 30 years (with upper-age relaxations as applicable).
• Level-1 (Erstwhile Group D): 18 to 33 years (with upper-age relaxations as applicable).

Relaxation Details

• Serving railway employees: up to 40/43/45 years depending on category.
• Widows/divorced women and certain other categories: up to 35/38/40 years.
• PwBD: additional up to 10 years.
• Ex-servicemen: as per service plus 3 years.
• Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAA) for Level-1: UR 33, OBC 36, SC/ST 38.

Educational Qualifications

• Level-2 (Group C): Passed 12th (+2 stage) or equivalent with at least 50% aggregate marks from a government-recognized Education Board/Council/Institution. Relaxation of the 50% mark is applicable for SC, ST, ESM, and PwBD candidates, and for candidates with higher qualifications from a UGC-recognized university. Alternatively, 10th pass from a government-recognized Board plus a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC)/ITI approved by NCVT (a Diploma in Engineering is not considered an alternative higher qualification).
• Level-1 (Erstwhile Group D): 10th Pass, or ITI, or an equivalent qualification, or NAC granted by NCVT.

Scouting/Guiding Qualification (mandatory for both levels)

• Must be a President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger, or hold a Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) in any section.
• Must have been an active member of a Scout Organization for the last 5 years, supported by a "Certificate of Activeness."
• Must have attended two events at the National level or All India Railways level, and two events at the State level.

• Tentative Written Exam Date: 2nd week of November 2026
• Document Verification: within about 10 days after the written exam results

Application Fee

• UR/OBC/EWS (Male): Rs. 500 (Rs. 400 refundable on appearing for the written exam)
• SC/ST/Ex-servicemen/PwBD/Women/Minorities/EBC: Rs. 250 (fully refundable on appearing for the written exam)

• Fee must be paid online (Internet Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI).
• Cash, Cheque, Money Order, or Demand Draft are not accepted.
• Refunds are processed to the original account or specified beneficiary after deduction of bank charges.
• Minority status: Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Zoroastrians (Parsis). EBC: income less than Rs. 50,000 per annum.
